Affiliate marketing can be a great way to make money. However, it’s not as simple as slapping a few affiliate links on your website. If you want to push your affiliate business to the next level, you need to put in some work and follow these tips.
1. Dig into Analytics
What do your clicks and conversions mean? By digging into affiliate marketing analytics, you can better optimize and gain more insights into what is working and what isn’t.
For example, if you’re an Amazon affiliate, you’ll want to take a look at the following:
- What type of products are people clicking on? Once they get there, do they go for the add to cart option or just bounce out of the page immediately?
- Which products yield higher conversions in your funnel?
This is especially vital if you’ve got an ecommerce business. By taking a closer look at what your visitors are doing on your site, you’ll be able to better hone in on the products that convert high and which ones don’t.
If a product doesn’t yield a lot of conversions, maybe it’s time to pull it from the page all together.
2. Better Understanding who your customers are and their needs is another vital affiliate marketing tip. If you can figure out what makes them tick, you’ll be able to better serve them throughout the buying process.
For example; do they trust testimonials? Maybe you could give a customer an incentive to leave one after they’ve completed their end of the transaction.
Reward them with something small in return for their time and feedback. If they see others talking about how awesome your business is, maybe they’d be more inclined to share the wealth.
This leads me to my next tip… 3. Make your site look professional. The first thing someone will see when arriving at your site is the layout, design, and even typography you use.

This is one affiliate marketing tip you can’t ignore, especially when looking professional. If your site is cluttered and you have poor typography, this implies that you are unorganized, cut corners in terms of how you look on the web or are not taking your business seriously enough.
This can be a huge turn-off to potential customers and cause them to go elsewhere for their needs. Make sure your site looks professional and easy to navigate to avoid losing potential traffic or conversions.
One of my favorite tools when it comes to highlighting the best products out there, as well as keeping just the right amount of design is called Divi from Elegant Themes.
It’s an awesome tool for affiliate marketers looking to build their own site or blog within minutes.
4. Utilize Social Media
One of the best ways to get your brand out there, free of charge, is through social media marketing
Whether you’re using Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or even engaging your customers directly on Twitter; social media is one of the best ways you can get your name out there. It’s up to you to determine what social media channel works best for you and your business.
Utilizing social media has never been more important than it is today, so don’t neglect this vital affiliate marketing tip.
5. Improve Your Images
When it comes to selling anything, the first thing you want people to see is your product image
If your product images are grainy, customers aren’t going to trust that they’re getting a quality product if they can barely make out what’s on the screen. Make sure all of your products have high-quality photos that people can actually see and trust.
If you’re not a photographer yourself, there are plenty of sites online which will take care of this for you at an affordable price. Here’s a quick tip though: Before shelling out any money to have professional-looking product images taken, try going on Instagram and searching hashtags related to what you’re selling.
You’ll be amazed at the number of people who are taking amazing photos of your product and sharing them on their Instagram profiles for free!
6. Email Marketing
This is one affiliate marketing tip that I feel everyone knows about, but not enough people take advantage of
If you’ve got an email list; make sure you’re sending out your content and include affiliate links to products that will help them in the future.
Also, don’t forget about autoresponders! If a customer has been on your email list for a long time and hasn’t made a purchase from you yet, don’t let it slip by without reminding them of what they’re missing out on.
You can set up automated emails which will go out when someone hasn’t shopped with you in x number of days to remind them that you still exist and that they might be forgetting something.
7. Work with influencers
One of the best affiliate marketing tips I could give anyone is this: Work with influencers!
Instead of putting all the work on your shoulders, why not partner up with other influencers in your industry who already have a following?
This is one of my best affiliate marketing tips. If you can get someone with a big following to promote your product or service; it’s going to be 10x easier for you since they’re doing all the hard work for you.
If they have something to gain from it, your influencer partner will be more than happy to do a review of your product and talk about what you’re doing.
8. Refresh your strategy everyone’s been in this boat before
You’ve been doing affiliate marketing for a while but then all of the sudden things just stop working
This is the case with all kinds of marketing strategies, affiliate or not. Don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t work the first time.
You need to keep trying! Keep working at it and see what’s not working and what’s still getting sales. If your strategy isn’t profitable anymore, maybe it’s time for a refresher course.
Check out the competition. See what they’re doing to get results and do something similar, but improve upon it!
9. Don’t sell out
One of the biggest affiliate marketing mistakes you can make is by selling out too early for too little money
While making a quick buck may seem like an attractive idea at first, you’ll only be hurting your business in the long term.
If you want people to trust and buy from you, don’t sell out and go with the first affiliate offer that comes along for a product or service that doesn’t really fit into your niche or line of work.
This is another one of my best affiliate marketing tips because if people see that you’re too desperate for money, they’re going to have no faith in you.
10. Track your results
The best way to decide if your affiliate marketing is working or not is by tracking the results that it’s giving you
There are plenty of different strategies you can use, but one of the most effective ways is to install a WordPress plugin called Pretty Link. It allows you to create short links that route straight to your affiliate link so you can easily track all of your clicks.
When it comes to affiliate marketing; the more data you have, the better!
11. Use your resources
There are tons of resources out there, especially when it comes to WordPress plugins, which will help your affiliate marketing efforts by making things easier for you
Some of them are free while others will require a small fee to use. For example, I like using Thirsty Affiliates and WP Plugin Manager (WordPress plugin). These plugins allow me to make things easier on myself by letting me install and activate many affiliate marketing related plugins at once.
Another one of my best affiliate marketing tips is to use resources like these to help you with your marketing efforts so that you don’t have to do everything yourself.
Those 11 affiliate marketing tips really helped me out when all was said and done! However, I want to know what affiliate marketing tips or tricks you’ve found most helpful in your own journey? Be sure to share them down.
